Dental Implants

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are titanium ‘roots' which, when placed in the upper or lower jaw, bond with the bone, thus acting as anchors for the replacement teeth (implant crowns and bridges).

Dental implants look, feel and function like your natural teeth and have the highest success rate for tooth replacement (over 95%). They prevent bone loss and shrinkage of the jawbone which can make the face look older and therefore implants gives you a younger looking appearance.

Why Dental Implants?

When searching for a solution to replace missing teeth we are no longer limited to just dentures or partial dentures, there are now highly sophisticated dental implants available.

What is a Single Implant?

Dental implants are usually the best and most conservative long-term options to restore a missing or failing single tooth. A bridge supported by the adjacent teeth may also be an option, but frequently means preparing or drilling the adjacent teeth, something we are keen to avoid today, particularly if the teeth are sound and healthy. A fixed bridge may be a good option when those teeth need restoration, i.e. if they are already heavily filled, restored or crowned, otherwise the single tooth implant restoration is generally the best choice particularly for sound, healthy teeth.
